PROVISIONAL LICENSE LAW

To obtain a provisional driver’s license, while under the age of 18, you must:

  • Be at least 15 1/2 years old

  • The minimum age to obtain a license is 16 years

  • Have your parent’s permission

  • Complete a 30-hour Driver's Education course

  • Pass the permit test

  • Complete 6 hours of Behind-the-Wheel Training from a California accredited driving school, and obtain the Certificate of Completion

  • Complete 60 hours of supervised driving, 10 hours of which must be at night

  • Have your permit for a minimum of 6 months

  • Take and pass the driving test
