PROVISIONAL LICENSE LAW
To obtain a provisional driver’s license, while under the age of 18, you must:

Be at least 15 1/2 years old

The minimum age to obtain a license is 16 years
-
Have your parent’s permission

Complete a 30-hour Driver's Education course
-
Pass the permit test
-
Complete 6 hours of Behind-the-Wheel Training from a California accredited driving school, and obtain the Certificate of Completion

Complete 60 hours of supervised driving, 10 hours of which must be at night
-
Have your permit for a minimum of 6 months
-
Take and pass the driving test
