**Please note that the DMV now requires minors to bring two forms or proof that prove California residency. These forms will be in the parent's names. For more information, please visit:

  • As of 1-1-04, the minimum age to receive a permit is now 15 ½ . Each applicant will also need to provide proof of completion of Driver Education and proof of enrollment in Driver Training.
  • Once the student passes the permit test, they must have their first professional driving lesson before it becomes valid. After that lesson, then they will be able to drive with anyone 25 yrs. or older with a valid California Drivers License.
